Palworld catch chances explained
Calculate the exact catch chance for every Pal and every sphere. The chance depends on the selected Pal, its level, remaining HP, capture power (Lifmunk Effigies) and the Statue of Power. The calculator also shows the higher chance when catching from behind (back bonus).
How does the Palworld capture formula work?
Palworld calculates the catch chance from several factors: the Pal's base capture rate (every species has its own value, and bosses are far harder), the Pal's level, its remaining HP (the lower, the better), the sphere's capture bonus (from the Pal Sphere up to the Ultra and Legendary Sphere), your capture power from Lifmunk Effigies, and the global multiplier of the Statue of Power. A hit from behind adds a back bonus. These values produce a percentage; if it exceeds 100%, the catch is guaranteed.
How to increase your catch rate
- Lower the HP: get the Pal as close to 0 HP as possible without defeating it – this is the biggest lever.
- Use a status effect: a sleeping or chilled/weakened Pal is easier to catch.
- Stronger sphere: Giga, Hyper, Ultra or Legendary Sphere instead of a basic Pal Sphere.
- Raise capture power: collect Lifmunk Effigies and turn them in at the Statue of Power.
- Throw from behind: a throw that hits the Pal's back grants an extra capture bonus.
